The Aerial Model LR5 is an extremely high-performance shielded 3-way loudspeaker for use in the best music and theater systems. It combines wide bandwidth (-3 dB at 38 Hz) and high output with exceptional speed and dynamics. Its 30" height allows convenient placement on stands, on shelves, or built flush into walls. Two rotary switches match the crossover to these locations and allow treble adjustment for system matching or personal taste. The Model LR5 provides an unusually high level of placement flexibility, real in-room response accuracy, and high output performance. The Model LR5 continues the design philosophy of other Aerial products - but taken to a higher level. Its extremely heavy and inert cabinet has low coloration due to thick walls and elaborate interlocked bracing. To optimize performance, new drivers were designed for the LR5 and the matching CC5. The new woofers have massive magnet structures, cast frames, and 2" diameter long-stroke voice coils with high force-to-mass ratios for improved control and dynamics. They move large air volumes with high speed and low distortion. The highly refined midrange driver has linear response to beyond 8 kHz. Midrange performance is clear, open, and extremely natural at all levels. The tweeter is our unique titanium design providing beautifully detailed and airy treble without hardness. The large precision crossover networks are built using the highest quality components on glass fiber circuit boards. They occupy the entire rear wall of the cabinet. The resulting system performance is extraordinary. Cabinets are built in mirror-imaged matched pairs. Black ash is standard. Several unusually high quality finishes are available. The optional floor stand is recommended for best performance. |
