In designing the MK 4 S/CCM 4 S, our aim was to ensure good speech intelligibility, even under unfavorable acoustical conditions. This has been achieved by rolling off the low frequencies and relying on the proximity effect produced by close-miking to restore a natural vocal timbre.

As described in the introduction, pickup of environmental noise is reduced by the directivity of the capsule and its low-frequency roll-off.

The MK 4 S/CCM 4 S is used primarily in voice-over and sound reinforcement applications, and wherever good speech audibility in a noisy environment is a prime requirement.

This capsule is suited for the recording of music in exceptional cases only.

When it is used at a distance of ca. 10 cm a flat frequency response can be obtained.
